Check your local comp.sources.postscript archives--I think it was
(re)posted there within the last few months. If that doesn't turn
up anything, mail me; I may have saved it somewhere.

1 or 2 years ago I saw on USENET an algorithm to compress postscript file.
In fact it produce a postscript file containing the postscript decompression
procedure and compressed data.
Executing this file with a Postscript interpreter would result in decompressing
the data and then executing it.
You would just send the compressed postscript file to any postscript printer
or viewer and and it would work as if you transmitted the original file.
So there is no need to decompress when one wich to see the file content
or print it, and as some of you may know, postscript are often big with
much redundant data.
We are storing more and more postscript files, such a compressor would be
realy interresting.
I don't remember if it is in this news group or a postscript discussion
group where I read this news. Anyway I didn't save the news. I wasn't interrested
at that time.
Where could I find this news/algorithm/code ?
I didn't saw anything on that stuff in the FAQ.
my FAQ copy may be out of date ;-)
Thanks for any responce, I'll post a summary if needed.
