Hi there. Some of my friends tried to use Stacker and SuperStore to compress the floppy
disk and store some files on the compressed floppy disk.Guess what, they can
not store the same number of files on the compressed floppy disk as they
can store on a normal floppy disk even the compression ratio seems to be
5:1 or 6:1.

They finally figured out what the problem is.The sizes of the files they
tried to store on the stackered floppy disk are all around 1k bytes but
the unit allocation size of the stackered floppy disk is 8k bytes. In stacker
the unit allocation size can be adjusted to 4k,but it still doesn't help.

The final conclusion seems to be that it is not reasonable to compress floppy
using Stacker or SuperStore if the file sizes are all below 4k and pkzip
can do much better to store theses "small" files.Besides the speed will
be reduced greatly using compressed floppy, expecially in Windows enviroment.

Are there some methods or programs to solve the problem of storing small
size files on the floppy and to speed up compressed floppy disks?

Thanks in advance.
