When SolideWorks start, I recieve an error:
"A problem was encountered accessing the proper security device. The device
may be missing or have invalid information. The application will be
terminated immediately"

What is the problem? It worked before on a different PC.

Sounds like you are missing a dongle. It plugs into a a com port, or the
Parallel port. Basically it is a hardware key that will enable the software.
I was not aware that SW was using such devices.... Perhaps it is an
educational license, or perhaps that was common in SW98+, I'm sure someone
who has used SW longer than I would remember.

You will either have to find the PC it did work on and remove the dongle,
buy a new seat of SW, or ..... well there is another way but it is not good
to speak of such things... good luck!

Dongles are used on SWX seats outside of North America. I believe that the
gentleman in question is from Norway.

Otherwise, your advice is what he needs to know.

Maybe it could be one of three things...

1.) When you loaded the software onto the second machine you entered the
incorrect serial numbers.
2.) You plugged the dongle into the computer while it was switched on.....
Try a COLD reboot.
3.) Your serial card is faulty...try a new card or port.

Hope this helps
