The added feature's sketch has NO relation to the curves defined by
the Split. The feature is in a location which is not in close
proximity to the split faces of the part and was NOT extruded in
relation to any of those surfaces.
The part has been checked to find that there are NO invalid edges or
faces...
Have you seen any other bugs of this particular species out there?

I saw a similar one the other day.
I put a spit line on a face in preparation to applying a draft angle to a
specific part of the face. This is something I have done before in previous
versions.
When I went to apply the draft, a portion of the the split line was ignored.
This may be hard to explain, but I put a jog in the projected sketch which
was used for the split line. The draft was applied to the face as I would
have expected it to be if I had just projected a straight line with no jog
onto the face. I don't have anyplace to post this part, so you can't look at
it.
I'll look into this some more, but it sounds like it could be related to
what you're seeing.

As for disappearing, the only time I know it will do this is with a
surface knit
What I have seen and maybe this is similar but the splitline sketch will
show a error for no reason at all and sometimes it may not solve the
split.
Do a ctrl-q or just edit the sketch and the red goes away but close and
open the file and the red is back.
If I suppress all that is below, I can usually find that a child feature
or features are somehow causing this failure.
So, I'm not sure if it's the same species but it could be linked to.
Maybe it is a Consistcyopus Featureatus? 8^/

Yes, I have seen this, and have reported it and have received an SPR
from my VAR. It happened to me just the way you said. The split line
was still shown in the tree, but was not shown on the model. Happened
on a replace face feature. I think it was an existing SPR, so someone
else has reported the same thing before me. 139770.
