Does anyone know how to speed up the panning and zooming in drawing
mode? Mine is very slow and choppy. Is there some system setting that
I can adjust? I've already got a decent video card (GVX1).

It think the closest thing is "Smooth dynamic motion of drawing view"
under drawings in the system options. It may help.

besides the 'corrupt file unable to save' this is probably the only
drawback in swx. their 2d acts a little sluggish. i think the 3d more
than makes up for it, but when we run the best software in the world,
we expect the best throughout. knowhutimean? try to do your 2d work
in shaded mode. swx handles the shade better than the wire. maybe i
could use a little shade myself. my head is gettin hot...

Try hiding views when you aren't working on them. Just show the one you are.
Text also seems to slow things down. You could turn text off temporarily.

This would be one of those times were it would be great if you could
post a picture of your troublesome drawing on this board (but I don't
think this board supports that, of course). That way we could tell
you that you have WAY too much lines on the screen for that to work
swiftly. ;) That said, perhaps you could click off hidden lines in
all of your views, if you happen to have a lot of views showing hidden
edges? I'm just thinking out loud- I usually run out of headroom on
the solid models than on drawing documents, so I can't even imagine
what you must have on screen to slow it down like you are describing.

Don Z, haven't you noticed how wireframe mode now benefits from video
acceleration? It is a big difference from when it wasn't, so I can't
imagine how you can still complain about it. (not flaming you, just
curious about your remark) Some videocards/driver combos do lines
better than othes, so maybe you just don't happen to have good line
drawing support on the particular card you are using now?

Edit: I meant to direct my line drawing remark to Bob Zee. Sorry for the mixup.

I would suggest you look at things like Crop View, Detail View, and
Broken View. These things for some reason really slow me down.
Another thing is, if you do have Detail Views, don't use anything
other than a circle to make your view border. Other than that, I'm
still over windowing myself.
