Otherwise, I'm pretty sure you can take you scanned images and do this
with html or with flash.

the great thing about this widget is that it doesn't require using the
computer--it contains a mountain of data, beautifully organized, and it sits
on my desk ready for consultation at any time. I don't have to launch an
app, worry about software compatibility, change windows, key in a number,
etc, etc. I've probably got the same data in a dozen places, but this
little chunk of plastic is BY FAR the most convenient place to refer to
it--and all for under $20.

Paul => That sounds like a really cool idea, I think I will try that!
I have been looked for these thingy's for over 3 years. They are the
greatest reference items I have ever used.
A co-worker had these at a previous place I worked. I even called him to
get the name and address off of them. But I have never been able to find
them. I never thought to post here to see if anyone knew where to get
them...DUH
I will definitely order one tomorrow for sure.

Another alternative to the TAD charts is the Alvin Screw Data Selector. It
has nearly the same information that the TAD chart has, but not quite the
range in sizes (#0 - 1" for screws). I don't think it's available in metric
though. You can buy this from the MSC catalog (www.mscdirect.com), item
#89900229 for less than $9.00, a lot cheaper than the TAD. I have also seen
it at art supply websites but MSC is probably the cheapest.
I have both the Alvin & the Holo-Krome. The Alvin is the much better choice
of the two.

I have the TAD and the Alvin. For whatever reason I tend to reach for the
TAD first, and if I don't find what I want, then I move over to the Alvin.
Adam.
You might be able to get these for free from the vendor you buy all your
fasteners from. Maybe? Doesn't hurt to ask. I think that's where the pile
of them came from at the large engineering house I use to work at (I can't
picture them spending the money for them).
