Do anyone out there have SolidWorks and HP CoCreate ME10. I'm primarily
concerned about sharing of information between the two applications. I
understand that ME10 is a 2D application. Of concern would be the ability
to transfer 2D dxf/dwg information between the two. I have a rather large
number of ME10 files that it would be handy to reuse existing sketches to
build parts in SolidWorks rather than having to recreate everything from
scratch. Also of concern might be *.mi to *.slddrw translator.

Thanks Much

Dave/John:

There is an application called "Solid/ME" (I think) available from a German
source. You can find them at www.solidpro.de. You can transfer back and
forth from SW to ME10, and even make it associative, if you have both apps on
the same computer.

We have a large number of both SW and ME10. ME10 is the 2D side or
SolidDesigner consequently most of our transfer takes place as STEP and SAT.
Our 2D release Standard is AutoCAD and both SW and ME10 can output that quite
well.

Little known fun fact, there is a dwg option in ME10's dxf output. Of more
use is the ability to batch out multiple dwg's or dxf's from ME10 files. I
believe that the command line program is just dxf. If you pass it a file list
you can have it convert the MI files to dwg then just open those in
SolidWorks. We did some checking and the dxf program is free and doesn't
require ME10 to be loaded on the machine either. It seems to be quite fast.
If you need more info on this just email me.
