Hi,

I often use clip mask on reference files to clear out areas for
placement of legends, title blocks, etc. However, clip mask only
seems to work successfully about 75% of the time for me. There are
sometimes reference files that I attach where clip mask has no
effect. Does anyone know why clip mask does not work on certain
reference files? Thanks very much for any help with this.

3d? 2d? v7?

I have had problems with reference clips/masks and cells, custom linestyles,
hatches etc. But not with normal geometry.

Rob,
There is a problem with total number of vertices clipped (I think 101
maximum). This could be causing your problem !! Have a look on
Bentley.microstation.otherversions.masks.clips.problems (Just jokin)

Thomas,

Thanks for your response. The clip mask problem that I'm having
occurs in both SE and J on 2D files. I know there is a limit on the
number of clip mask vertices (around 100 or so)in an active design
file. Unfortunately, the problem often occurs when I have just
started to bring in reference files and there are no clip masks
present with the active design file. Any ideas? Thanks.
