Accudraw set the axis from the last placed element in the file.

Can I reset the axis to any other previously created element in the design
file? If so can I also reset the axis from a reference file?

Thanks, Mladin

Caramba! it seems to me that you still don't have robstoys.ma
Visit www.ustation.com and download this "must have goodie"... your life will
become easier.
Anyway have some time and read some about Accudraw Shortcuts ussage in the
user's guide.

Have a good day.

Sure can! Use the 'RQ' shortcut:
Let's say that the compass is anchored to one end of a line...and you
want Accurdraws x-axis to line up with the line...

With AccuDraw active, enter "RQ". You should now be able to spin the
compass by moving your curser around and the prompt will read: "Rotate
AccuDraw Axis > Define X axis"

Now, snap to the other end of a line and accept it. The compass is now
rotated.

This is a temporary setting only, Accudraw will go back to it's normal
behaviour once you've finished your current command.

To permenantly set up a rotated axis...you'll need to use Auxillary
Coordinate Systems (ACS) in conjuntion with Accudraw.

Hope this is enough to get you started.

You can also snap first (without accepting) and then press RQ and the
axis rotates and you move on without accepting. This also works with
the O (locate origin) shortcut.

And...
Place your compass with "O" or a datapoint , switch to Polar ("Space"),
key in an new angle, then press "RQ" and carry on. :-)

Alternatively, you might try a different approach-
'Rotate view by Element', then set Accudraw axis to 'View' (hit V)
then no need to read everything "on the skew". Finally reset by 'View
Previous'. TriForma has view tools to do this; I don't bother with ACS
