We are FINALLY networking the Engineering Department into the rest of the
company. The downside is that Production and Purchasing now want access to
our drawing files - for the best of all possible reasons of course.

Setting aside the cost of licensing more copies of AutoCAD so they can read
the files, I don't want them to be able to change our drawings. Markup,
comment, sneer or laugh Yes, change No!

I'm looking for a drawing viewer that will let them see, print and comment
on a file without changing it. I have downloaded Volvo from AutoCAD but
that only saves DWG files in DWF format. The results don't show when I open
a drawing.

Any suggestions for a viewer will be greatly appreciated. It must also be
able to open and save MD files.

TIA

Mike

Hello Mike!

I think you might be confusing Volo [volvo] with the Whip! DWF browser
plugin. Volo does actually view the dwg format quite well. The caveat
being that you need IE installed for full functionality. They do have an
NS version now, however. Haven't tested it yet tho.

The markup version should still be available there for beta too. I
believe the URL is http://www.autodesk.com/volo

If you need any more assistance with this, let me (and the group) know.

Happy holidays!
