We would like to be able to do is publish all sorts of
files as Adobe PDF format, but we need the ability to
take the PDF files from certain applications, convert
them into DXF so they can be pulled back into AutoCAD
as a vector based file. (Raster in conversions won't
do it, since text needs to be retained as text.)

There is another possibility: download the GNU utility pstoedit from
http://nic.zcu.cz/ftp/mirrors/X11-contrib/applications/tgif/pstoedit.
This program translates Postscript file into tgif, rpl, lwo, rib, mif
(Framemaker), fig, pdf, gnuplot, dxf, java.
