Is there a way to make a viewport that is a shape other than a
rectangle? For example, a rectangle with 1/4 of it subtracted.
Thanks.

Non-rectangular viewports were first introduced in AutoCAD 2000. But you
can do what you want by using two (or more) viewports arranged edge to edge,
and arranged so that their views are aligned.

I used to pull that stunt by *overlapping* them. You make one, copy it to
the same position, drag-to-resize one of them, leaving some overlapp.

Overlapping isn't necessary. You can just snap one edge to the other.

No it isn't, but it's a easy way to have them 'register'.

How is it easier than just having them meet?
