I'm an avid user of Generic Cadd, but alas the product is old and,
dare I say, obsolete. It does all that I want to do. I seem to
remember that AutoCad or perhaps someone else bought toe rights to
Generic Cadd and absorbed them into their product line. I guess
I'm wanting to pick up something that will work under (gulp) Windoze95
that will correctly render my Generic Cadd images. I have several
designs that I need to preserve and since I upgraded my system at
home I can no longer run Generic Cadd at all. Offline answers would
be preferred as I don't follow this newsgroup regularly. Email replies
to ron...@lexmark.com. Thanks!

I used Genric Cad and liked the tolerancing and dimensioning better
than ACAD. Well i belive it was bought out by Autodesk and those who
had Generic Cad were offerd Acad LT for about $120. I wonder If this
offer is still around because I never took advantage of it. It should
run in WIN95-DOS but i have the feeling your at NT now.

Take a look at Visual Cadd. Current version is 2.04 and is avalible from
IMSI Software or independent dealers. Version 3.0 is in Beta and due
for release soon. It is expected to have R14 compatibility. GCadd
drawings and components are directly importable into Vcadd. And
about 90% of the 2-letter shortcuts are the same as in GCadd. see
www.imsisoft.com for details.

I also was a fanatic about Generic Cadd, but was forced to switch over. I
will tell you that Corel's (now IMSI's) Visual Cadd uses most of the same two
letter command set and is written for Windows 95. Autocad, thus far, has
been a complete frustration. I did not, however, have much difficulty
running Generic CADD in Windows 95- it was NT that caused my trouble. You
should check the net for technical tips to make sure you have to switch from
Generic in win95.
