Would someone be kind enough to tell me if it is possible to legally
purchase a full complete original version of R14 portable and apply for
a transfer of license to AutoDesk - paying any fee applicable. I have an
opportunity of purchasing this software , but want to do it legitimately
and legally.Any advice on this would be appreciated thanks - Maurice.

In general, Autodesk no longer permits license transfers, except in the
event of the sale or closure of a business. The only way you'll find out
for certain is to contact Autodesk directly; their customer service
number is 1-800-538-6401.

This sounds like they might have rethought their policy change. But it might
just be something that they are allowing in Australia - I've seen some strange
stuff from Autodesk / Discreet that seems to only apply to sales in Australia
before.

Thanks, Chad. Autodesk obviously does business quite differently in
various parts of the world...

I think it has to do with the laws of the country they are doing
business in on what they actually do. I've heard that in Germany (don't
know if this is true or not) they have a law that allows the purchaser
of a software package to legally load that package on ALL computers
owned by that individual or company. Basically the single user license
doesn't apply. It would be interesting to compare the licensing
agreement of AutoCAD 2000 (or another version) from a package sold in
countries other than the USA.
