We are using ESRI products for Acad GIS. Does anyone know what it takes
to give a file to a good printing house in order for them to print, say
500 maps. It's possible of course to give a printer an Acad file to
print on a 4 color system, but I want to take the Acad drawing into
ArcCad etc, make it into a GIS application, and then give the printing
house the file in the format that they can work with.
Most of the printing firms in my area are Mac based; therein is part of
the problem. My company does not intend to buy a Mac in order to
accomplish this task and any future work. The only info I intend to
give to the printer is that which is necessary to print a "pretty" map.
The spatial info, of course, is of no value in the printing process.
I just thought while I was creating the map, I may as well make it a
smart drawing, via GIS, instead of giving him a acad drawing (or
possibly 4 different files for his 4 color system). That way it would
save me a bunch of work, and the work I did would have more value for
the future? Suggestions please.
thx, Steve

why not just print out your final draft and get color copies made??
it's cheaper by far! and i dont know of any printing co's who use arcview
or arcad much less autocad. might be your best bet!
