Dwg files contain deleted entities (and other overhead) from the
previous drawing session. This happens even when entities are wblocked
out. The resulting dwg file is larger than it needs to be, since when
you open the dwg and save it right away again, the file becomes smaller.

I'm looking for a utility which can purge out the garbage in DOS. When I
create numerous new dwg files by wblocking entities repeatedly from a
base drawing, each new dwg has an increasingly larger file size. This is
a big problem when batch processing hundreds of dwgs because the disk
space becomes used up.

Use PURGE.EXE utility from DOS prompt.
You can find it at:

Contact Owen Wengerd for his SuperPurge utility. This runs inside AutoCAD,
not at the DOS level as you requested, but it's quite a nice tool for
drawing cleanup.

Hi

Try setting ISAVEPERCENT to 0.This settings controls the waste space in a dwg.
When it is 0 you don't have any waste space in the ddwg.
Hope this helps,
