The message you get when you try to connect should distinguish between
those two conditions. It's running right now. I see 8 out of a maximum
of 200 users are signed on.

I've been trying for a couple of weeks to log-on to the Autodesk ftp
site with no success

Ed Moore answer gave me the hint I needed. I had been using Netscape to
jump from the Autodesk www site to the ftp site and also trying to go to
the ftp site direct using Netscape. Either way hung with the ftp site ip
address showing. Same answer for NCSA Mosaic connections. Stalled at the
ftp address.

Tonight, using my old WinQTV/Net program, I got right into the ftp site,
no problems, in like a flash.

Thanks to ED Moore for the hint. The connect numbers on the left of
Ed's script reminded me of this old program I hadn't yet (but almost had)
removed from my hard drive.

Thanx Ed

I can reach the FTP site with specific FTP software, but not through
NETSCAPE. Yes, the patches are there (/pub/autocad/patches). I use
WINFTP to connect and it seems to work everytime.

I have been using Netcom for my Internet provider and I cannot connect
to their ftp site at all any more. Three separate other people have
told me the same thing. I posted this to this newsgroup and got
several responses from people having no trouble connecting with them.
I can get to the Autodesk Web site fine...just nothing there for me to
access..but the ftp site..no luck!

I have had the same results at the ftp site and can only see the top
1/3 of the autodesk www page; and then only while "reloading" or going
to another site as it flashes by.
