I heard about this when looking for an article on China's quest for a
national ISA to which I could add a comment suggesting that they go to
my web site at
http://www.quadibloc.com/arch/arcint.htm
or
http://quadibloc.com/arch/arcint.htm
as well now since I renewed my domain most recently, for an
architecture.
Anyways, UPU seems to stand for Unified Processing Unit, because it
blends the CPU with the GPU by having a single processor share
floating-point units (single-precision only in this first iteration)
for both functions.
This is interesting and innovative, even if it is too specialized to
be likely to be the choice made.
