We are running ArcserveIT 6.61 for NT. Our operations staff has given
me 30 DLTIVs from their pool to use in mine. They are running
OmnibackII 4.1 for Unix.

When I mount the tapes, Arcserve gives me a "Unreadable Media" error,
and I cant seem to erase or format them.

I dont want to be able to see the data, but I was interested in
recovering the tapes so I can use them in my own media pool as blank
tapes for my backups.

Does anyone know of a way to do this? Something like running FDISK on
a hard drive and deleting whatever partition information was there so
you can start from scratch and install what you want on it.

Thanks for your help, as I have not been able to get any information
off of CA's website.

You may be able to first overwrite them with the NT built-in backup tool and
then erase them in Arcserve. Or you can ask the Unix staff to erase them
with whatever tools they have available (dd, cpio, dump, mt... )
