Hi.

I have an old toshiba LCD with no data.
Driver ICs are T7900 and T7778A.
Is out there somebody with data for this two chips?
On toshiba homepage and google i can't find anything....

Any help would be great.

thnx
Ben

Hello Ben,

maybe I can help. I should have an old Toshiba data book somewhere...
First step is to analyze the circuit. Find out what lines you have
at the interface connector, and where they lead to. In the mean time,
I will try to find the data sheet. If I succeed, I can tell you the
pin functions. Don't be too optimistic; I remember some of the Toshiba
chips having a very proprietary interface timing; you will need an
external LCD controller anyway.

Best regards, Rudolf.

Hi.

The LCD wears the number TLX-1631-C3B
for YDrive there are 3 T7900 and for XDrive 16 T7778A ICs.

Connectors are 3.
One 20pin and two 3 pin connectors
3pin connectors seem to be power supply conns...
There is allso LA5316 (switcher + external shotky) and TA75902F quad opamp
connected as followers and building with CAP's, i think, a inverter circuit.
Then there are logic chips:
40H367
40H240
40H074
40H163

20 PIN CON. :
PIN1 GND
PIN2 OVER 1k res. to PIN4 of 40H367 thru to PIN83 of all T7778A
PIN3 OVER 1k res. to PIN6 of 40H367 thru to PIN16 of one T7900 only one
of 3 maybe the t7900 are connected in some sort of serial chain(FIFO)?
PIN4 GND
PIN5 OVER 1k res. to PIN2 of 40H367 thru to PIN82 of all T7778A
PIN6 GND
PIN7 OVER 1k res. to PIN8 of 40H240 thru to PIN94 of first half of 16
T7778A's
PIN8 OVER 1k res. to PIN6 of 40H240 thru to PIN93 of first half of 16
T7778A's
PIN9 OVER 1k res. to PIN4 of 40H240 thru to PIN92 of first half of 16
T7778A's
PIN10 OVER 1k res. to PIN2 of 40H240 thru to PIN91 of first half of 16
T7778A's
PIN11 GND
PIN12 OVER 1k res. to PIN11 of 40H240 thru to PIN91 of second half of 16
T7778A's
PIN13 OVER 1k res. to PIN13 of 40H240 thru to PIN92 of second half of 16
T7778A's
PIN14 OVER 1k res. to PIN15 of 40H240 thru to PIN93 of second half of 16
T7778A's
PIN15 OVER 1k res. to PIN17 of 40H240 thru to PIN94 of second half of 16
T7778A's
PIN16 GND
PIN17 SHORT to PIN24 , PIN11(VEE) of TA75902
PIN18 VCC for logic ICs
PIN19 SHORT to PIN21 no connection to any pin of chips or other parts (i
did not find any conn)
PIN20 SHORT to PIN23 no connection to any pin of chips or other parts (i
did not find any conn)

1st 3 PIN CON. :
PIN21 SHORT to PIN19
PIN22 GND
PIN23 SHORT to PIN20

2nd 3 PIN CON. :
PIN24 SHORT to PIN17 , PIN11(VEE) of TA75902
PIN25 OVER 16k res. to PIN19 of LA5316 and diode
PIN26 OVER 13k res. to GND

367 buffers are allways enabled (gates on GND).
240 buffers are allways enabled (gates on GND).

I think on 2nd 3pin connector is for the contrast resistor?

If i find more time i can draw a schematic of this LCD.

Hi Ben,

this is the information I can offer based upon your measurements:

PIN1 GND
PIN2 FR Frame signal
PIN3 DIO1 Data input 0
PIN4 GND
PIN5 SCP serial data clock
PIN6 GND
PIN7 DI1 Data input 0 (upper)
PIN8 DI2 Data input 1
PIN9 DI3 Data input 2
PIN10 DI4 Data input 3
PIN11 GND
PIN12 DI4 Data input 3 (lower)
PIN13 DI3 Data input 2
PIN14 DI2 Data input 1
PIN15 DI1 Data input 0

PIN16 GND
PIN17 SHORT to PIN24 , PIN11(VEE) of TA75902
PIN18 VCC for logic ICs
PIN19 SHORT to PIN21 no connection to any pin of chips or other parts

PIN20 SHORT to PIN23 no connection to any pin of chips or other parts

1st 3 PIN CON. :

PIN21 SHORT to PIN19
PIN22 GND
PIN23 SHORT to PIN20

2nd 3 PIN CON. :
PIN24 SHORT to PIN17 , PIN11(VEE) of TA75902
PIN25 OVER 16k res. to PIN19 of LA5316 and diode
PIN26 OVER 13k res. to GND

I am missing the line pulse signal which should go to pin 84 of T7778.
Possibly connected to pin 3.

I made a mistake.

PIN2 of 20 PIN connector goes OVER 1k res. to PIN4 of 40H367 thru to
PIN84!!! of all T7778A

PIN83 of all T7778A goes on PIN9 of 40H074 2nd FlipFlop's Q. CLK for FF is
from 40H163 Counter's PIN15 TC output. D is connected to /Q.
