Hey guys,
I recently found a website where I was able to determine my market value
based on my experience, industry, geography, and skills. It is an easy way
to get information about salary and market trends. My individual market
value was e-mailed back to me and I was better able to make decisions about
my career based on this valuable information. I just thought I'd pass this
along since it is so important to be aware of your current market value.

Check it out.....http://www.gdsweb.com/survey.asp

I could be wrong, but this sure smells like a headhunter troll...

(Note the sales-speak. Doesn't look like Firmware Engineer-speak to me)

It's a crap website. It asks you for your "name" and your phone
numbers. Maybe that's why I'm in the job that I'm in, because I
have the right (wrong?) phone number.

Does anyone have any feelings as to what is a good phone number
to increase one's market value ? Are even numbers better or
worse than odd ones ? Do treble-zeroes at the end make one
any less/more saleable ? Do you get disqualified if your fax
and phone numbers are the same ?

Ah. The same old "Americans rule the world" syndrome. I personally,
if I were looking for employees, wouldn't go with someone who couldn't
at the very least write "+1 716 425 8009".

Let me guess. This web-site is yours, specifically designed
for harvesting personal data, right ?

I was going to fill in the form and see what junk mail I'd get back
by fax or phone call or whatever, but all I could see was a stupid
drop-down box marked "state". Nowhere could I say "I'm not in a state",
and there weren't defaults for "denial" or "confusion" or whatever.

Do you know what the first "w" in "www." stands-for ? Wisconsin-Wide
Web, Wyoming-Wide-Web, perhaps.
