I am new to this newsgroup, and apologize if this question has been
posted before.

I have used Lotus 123 for Windows since version 1, and for the past 6
months, have been running Rel.5, which I had installed over Rel.4

It never really installed (integrated) properly, as I have both
123r4.ini and 123r5.ini in my Windows directory, and kept losing
Smarticons, and Toolbar.

Lotus Tech help here in Toronto went though it with me, trying to
resolve this issue, and suggested that I save my work files, delete
the program, and reinstall.

To my horror, I can't reinstall Lotus 123r5w. Disk 1 copies most of
the install files to my hard drive, then I get "Application Error.
Lotusins caused a General Protection Fault in KRNL386.EXE at
0001:79B3"

I have tried everything - turning off and rem-ing out my anti-virus
software, going back to VGA resolution, turning off my 32 bit disk
access, setting my swap file to 0, etc.

Nothing helped.

The tech guy at Lotus said I should re-install Windows. I really don't
want to do this.

Can anyone help me work around this problem? I would be very grateful.

Just a wild guess. Try booting up with only the first line of your
config.sys and a prompt line for your autoexec.bat; start WFW and install.

"temp" should be set to a directory of its own, like c:\temp. But this
is not the cause of your problem.
