Dear colleague, I am a co-editor of the special issue entitled "Granular
Computing for Explainable Artificial Intelligence", for the Journal of
Granular Computing [
http://www.springer.com/journal/41066/about]. In
order to initiate the special issue, I am investigating whether
potential authors are interested in contributing to it.
If you are interested in contributing to the special issue, please send
an email to
luca....@unipi.it indicating the paper's tentative title.
The tentative deadline for the paper submission is now set for September
30, 2023. However, we plan to rearrange such a deadline once we have
collected the tentative titles from the authors.
Explainable artificial intelligence (XAI) provides some insights into
the reasons behind the outcome of AI models, allowing domain experts to
validate and employ those in decision-making processes. In this regard,
XAI can be combined with Granular Computing approaches to representing
data instances in a semantically organized manner (e.g. via clustering,
fuzzy systems, or hierarchical aggregations) to find class prototypes or
counterfactuals, and extract relevant information granules to be
employed as concepts for human-readable explanations (e.g. via
information granulation visualizations technique), and much more.

about this special issue, organized by Rami Al-Hmouz, Antonio Luca
Alfeo, Mario G.C.A. Cimino, Boris Kovalerchuk, Nijat Mehdiyev, and
Fabio Mercorio.
I am looking forward to your reply. Best regards, Antonio Luca Alfeo
