Hi,
I plan to apply for my PhD at the Engineering Sciences Dept of Simon
Fraser University, Canada. I am interested in Medical Image Analysis
and am targetting the Medical Image Analysis Laboratory
(http://mial.fas.sfu.ca/index.php ) of SFU, a 2 yr old lab headed by
Profs Faisal Beg and Ghassan Hammerneh. Can anybody let me know the
reputation of this research group & the quality of research going in
there.
Hoping for some quick feedback on this. Thanks very much.
In earnest,
Nikita.

Hi Ivan, Thanks for the link. But I could not find a search option in
the site neither could I find a message having anything to do with the
MIAL group of SFU. Could you please clarify what you meant.
Thanks.
- Nikita.

Hi nikita, the link must have been changed, strange. I'm a bit in
hurry right now, have to finish an article, at evening I'll look
again. promised. At least I can tell you about one of your future
teacher, Ghassan Hamarneh, he is known well contexted with MATLAB.
I know him as great guest speaker (may '03) at MEDICAL BIOPHYSICS
Graduate Seminars too. To think twice for joining the group, have
a look at MIAL SFU's published works and activities until yet and
its current projects (overview HP, also google will tell you some
extern feedback belongs to groups & headers projects in past, its
liasions and international relationships) to take decision. As
well I heared about this institutes lovely area near wilderness.

Hi Ivan, Thanks for the reply. Yes, Im trying to assess the group by
reading their publications etc. But I'd be glad for more inputs from
you or anybody else in the group on this subject.
Thanks and looking forward,
Nikita.
