Institute for Information Technology Research


The Institute for IT Research invites up to three graduates (with a
BSc (Hons.) in Computer Science or higher) to join its team of
researchers to work in one of the following research areas: mobile
robotics, natural language understanding and speech processing. The
Institute carries out leading research in all these areas and is keen
to develop leading-edge products for the marketplace.

These are exciting and challenging positions. Each position is a fixed
2-year appointment initially and there is a strong likelihood to be
extended for a year or more. He or she will be responsible for
assisting the Director of the Institute in developing innovative
software in one of the above areas. The skills required include
excellence in programming (and preferably with good knowledge of LISP)
and ability to work independently. Applicants with a good knowledge in
the research field of Artificial Intelligence, Speech, Graphics, and
Language Parsing would be preferred. It is expected that the
successful applicant will also apply to do a PhD in the same area at
AUT (and the Institute will pay for his/her fees).

The Institute for IT Research is currently headed by Professor Yeap
and has a team of 5 full-time researchers and 1 support staff. The
Institute is situated at the AUT Technology Park at Penrose. The
appointment is at an appropriate level in the Research Assistant
range.

Salary range of offer: $27,186 - $37,842
