Gene 5.1 is an artificial life simulation. The animals in Gene have an
inherited pathway that they follow when traveling over a landscape of
plants. Successful animals (those that eat well) survive and
reproduce. Mutations may occur in the process. In this latest release,
it is possible for animals to exchange genetic material (path
segments).
Gene is highly configurable and many variables can be tested.

Well, I can confirm that it "runs at all" under
WinXP Windows Media Edition 2005.
More when I have time to play with it a bit. Right
now I'm in the middle of lens replacement eye
surgeries, and seeing stuff right in front ot me is
a bit dicey.
