I talked to Dave Cortez about this. What do you all think?
Tonight there is a massive clean of City Hall at 5pm. Personally, I
think after the clean, we should pull out of the space. Whenever we
leave, we need to leave that place in the best condition possible to
avoid conflict with city residents. Since we are cleaning tonight, I
think we should pull out tonight.
Saturday, we should meet in Republic square park, have a GA at noon,
bring in our new guidelines by consensus, and have a rally at 9pm. At
this time, we will set up tents, and hopefully, by making a call to
everyone, be able to defend the space at 10 when the curfew is up.
Tents should be numbered, and people should sign up for shifts, so
each tent always has a person on site responsible for it. This is
obviously for people who don't have their own tent to bring, or for
people who can't spend 24 hours a day on site.
I also think food assistance should be given directly instead of
handed out at a table. By this I mean that people who need assistance
with food get sponsored by five people who don't. Those five are
committed to helping their person in need eat. Food donations
accepted should only be fruit, veg, and the like. Excess food should
be donated to Food not Bombs or other feeding services around town.
The reason for all of this is to keep the ratio of people who need
support to those who don't low enough as to remain sustainable. If
half our group leans on the other half, we will fall.
These are the ideas being discussed by another group focused on
moving. The movement will split if a move doesn't happen soon. I'm
doing my best to keep everything together, and to keep the heart
beating. If action isn't taken soon, my sense tells me we are going
to fall apart.
