having trouble logging in

Let me start about by saying that I am new to Rails and Community
Engine. I've gotten CE installed on my local computer and the test
had 0 errors and 0 failures. I signed up for a new account but
because I am on a localhost did not receive an email and it will not
let me log in. Is there anyway around this or do I have to go
through the trouble of using an smtp server. I did assign the account
I created to have the role of admin and I made sure that it was in the
database. Any suggestions?

Look through your development log for the email being sent and copy/
paste the activation link into your address bar.
