The Meg Perry Center: for Peace, Justice and Community at 644 Congress St Portland has three work-spaces to share with new organizations and individuals. The Meg Perry Center started over 5 years ago and over that time has grown into a cooperatively-run space for the community to organize, learn, collaborate and grow.
We now have 3 work-spaces available in our second floor loft. They are perfect for a new organization or an individual that needs a space to work from outside of a home or cafe.
The Meg Perry Center has helped to incubate organizations including Local Sprouts Cooperative, the Portland Food Co-op, Fur Cultural Revival and Centro Latino. Currently the Meg Perry Center is currently home to Fur Cultural Revival, the Southern Maine Worker Center and Asher Platts for State Senate . This can be a space for you to work, grow, connect and collaborate with other organizations.
- By renting a workspace you also have access to the main space of the Meg Perry Center where you can host workshops, events, fundraisers, art shows and meetings.
- Wi-fi, heat and electricity is included in rent.
- The Meg Perry Center is a storefront and we have large windows that we use to help promote our member organizations and events.
- We sell books, t-shirts and other merchandise from member organizations
- We are asking $200 per workspace. This includes a desk, electrical outlets, wi-fi or ethernet internet, some additional storage
- There is some basement storage and possibility for parking (for $35 a month).
- It is available October 1st.
If you're not interested in an office, but need a space to hold meetings, events, or workshops, please check out the attached space usage rates and get in touch as we want to have our space rented out and used by more organizations.
We are also looking for people to staff the Meg Perry Center and be involved in coordination at the Center. It is a great opportunity to have a space to do your work and connect with your community. You can help with our library, community events and workshops, art shows, book sales and more. Please get in touch if you are interested in getting involved in the Center.
The Meg Perry Center is run by the Community Building Collaborative, whose mission is to share resources, knowledge, and spaces to empower a sustainable, cooperative and creative world. Member organizations at the Meg Perry Center are asked to participate in the board of the Community Building Collaborative and together we cooperatively organize the center and work on other collaborative projects. We are also looking for more board members who would like to help support the Meg Perry Center and realize the mission of the Community Building Collaborative.
