CS3DP: an open letter to funders

Thank you all for the feedback, discussion, and ideas you have provided. CS3DP organizers would like to share what we envision as the next step:

 

Interested members of this group will co-author an open letter to relevant funding agencies. The letter will communicate collectively identified priorities in order to help focus funding on complementary projects that will make significant, tangible contributions to progress on 3D data preservation for our broad community. With this letter we hope to provide guidance and invite discussion with funders on our community’s collective needs.

 

Through a series of virtual meetings in 2022 and 2023, we have provided a platform for discussion of priorities.  A summary of those discussions and a ranking survey was distributed to the list following the last meeting. The ranking activity data will be used in the formulation of the letter, so your responses to that survey are critical in communicating funding priorities.

Please take a moment to answer the three-question survey, if you want to influence the process.

 

Once we have adequate survey data, we will organize a meeting to discuss formulation of the letter.
