Remember Bill 44 and the Parental Opt-Out Clause? Discussion may have quieted, but the fight against Bill 44 is not over. Though the bill passed last year, a last minute delay went into effect when it became clear that schools could not easily implement the vague and harmful measures suggested so ambiguously suggested in Section 11.1. This week starts the 2010-2011 school year and Bill 44’s ‘gag order’ will be put into place across Alberta, stifling healthy discussion and censoring teachers.
There is a protest today:

On hand will be QAN’s 44 Reasons, a quilt project that has been gathering signatures and messages from across the province over the past year.
