Hey everyone,
Just wanted to let you know that a group I work for, the Queer Allied Network, will be holding a general meeting this Wednesday. Some of you may have heard of us, we’ve worked on things like an anti-Bill 44 quilt project, planned many demonstrations, protested Conservative politicians at Pride, convinced Facebook to allow posting of pictures of post-op transmen, worked towards reinstating Gender Reassignment Surgery, etc. Our upcoming events including presenting the quilt to the Legislature and organizing another Back to School protest against Bill 44.
So far we’ve been a core group of members organizing and doing stuff mostly on our own, but we’d like to bring more people and ideas into the fold. We want to hear from more queer Albertan voices and make sure we’re doing stuff that others care about.
Please pass this info along!

Queer Allied Network blurb: QAN was formed in Edmonton in the spring of 2009 in response to the de-listing of Gender Reassignment Surgery and after the introduction of the anti-education legislation of Bill 44. We are an organization created to mobilize Albertans on issues that affect the queer community and its allies.
