Do the organizers of the upcoming conference need any volunteer help,
for planning, organizing, promotion of the event, etc?

Hi Eric,

We haven't had our 2011 kick-off meeting yet, but new volunteers are always welcome. Where would you like to help? There are many tasks that could use your help. Sponsorship is always difficult so we could use introductions. Here are a few other examples along with the people I remember helped out last year:

Venue/OSCON Coordination - Jono
Sponsorship & Payments - Jono & Dave Nielsen
Onsite logistics
- arranging chairs in all rooms (then putting them back at the end) (everyone)
- setup session grid & other posters (Sarah, Jefro, Van & ?)
- setup registration table (Marsee Hanon)
- rent & setup audio & projector (Jono & ?)
- setup directional signs (Dave & MIke)
- arranging for coffee & tea service (Dave)
Facilitation:
- Intro Day 1 - Jono
- Cont. Day 2 - Sara Ford
Marketing & Promotion - Jono + everyone
Photos, Videos & Note-taking - Mike + everyone

I'm sure I'm missing someone, and I'm sorry about this is what I recall off of the top of my head.

Hey all,

Jono contacted me at the beginning of January about helping, and I'm happy to do so. I'm also on the ground in PDX, so let me know how I can help.

I knew I was forgetting someone from last year. Thanks Nate!

Now that CLS West is over, I'll check with Van & Jono to find a time to kick off the first CLS11 organizer meeting.

Cheers!

I'll be on the team again as well, and I'll be partially "on the ground" in Portland with Nate as I'll be there periodically for the next several months.

I'm planning to be involved again this year. I'm hoping we will have more women community leaders involved organizing this time around. I was personally disappointed that I couldn't get more of my female peers in community work to be part of our organizing committee for our recent big annual CLS West event. I know we can do better.

Cheers, Van

Thanks Dave, that gives us an good outline, e.g. of where and how we can help out. Would a teleconf with an agenda help with this? Or is this Google Group forum sufficient?

Once we (Jono, Van, ?) nail down the date & venu, we'll schedule a
call. Until then, let's use this group.

Hi,

I'm also really interested in helping out. I work and live in Portland at Puppet Labs. We can offer some space depending on the requirements and I can work with other local startups that might have more space.

Cheers,

Jose

Hi there. I'd be interested in helping if there's a way I can be of use.
I'm the community lead for the WordPress open source project.

Hi

I'm hoping to be there again this year.
Let me know how I can be of assistance.
Not sure if I can help from London?

I was the (only) Community Leader from a financial institution there last year - looking forward to providing an update.

I'd be delighted to help out when and where I can. I think that last year's effort was really very successful, and I just wish that we had been able to leverage more of what was done there…
best

I'm based in Portland and do a lot of community organizing here
(BarCamp, Ignite, Open Source Bridge). I'd love to help organize the
summer event, though in a somewhat limited role given I'll be working
on OSBridge through June.
