We have some very basic ones. People mostly adhere to them. :)

Howdy -

I was in a number of sessions where folks mentioned having a code of conduct for community members.  The community I manage hasn't had to deal with assholes (yet) and is fairly close-knit, so I haven't had a need for one.  After hearing a few stories from last weekend, I definitely want to get something implemented within my community; mostly to make expectations of 'being active' more clear among everyone who joins.

Anyone out there willing to send along a copy of theirs for me to take a look at and use as a starting point?

Thanks in advance,
Theresa

Simple rules are great. While with other Communities, I saw that certain *codes* can create hassles they are intended to stop. The CoC for example was used a tool for arguments, meaning if it was not specifically prohibited, it must be ok.

Fedora has a rather simple, straight forward principle *Be Excellent to each other*. I am against us adding to it. I mean do we need to *don't be an asshat*? I dont think so. Sometimes it is easier to focus on grandiose words, as opposed to RESULTS.

It's not worthy of a major headline, but while at OSCON, the majority of those *in charge* of me were women. This was done with out the use of wordy goals and noble statements complied in a semi-holy document.

To be clear, I am not saying that other projects should not create masterpieces of intent and goal in awesome flowery language---- I am just stating that the Fedora project has been able to accomplish goals others would like to with a simple and elegant Be excellent to each other :)

Many of the local groups I am part of are rather diverse, and this was also done with out over-doing what can be rather simple- if people dont understand what *be excellent* means; they most likely dont need to be part of my Community
