Children and youth are profoundly affected by a parent’s deployment — then impacted again, in different ways, when the parent returns home. Because of the possibility of multiple deployments, children may be shaken up multiple times over varying months/years throughout their young lives. These transitions are tough on families.

While the parent is away, the military child is also doing her own service. She often assumes new roles and responsibilities while one of her parents is away. She might feel like she is the only one and that she is going through it alone, especially if she is not surrounded by other military-connected youth.

But there are ways to help children and youth overcome the stresses associated with their parent’s deployments and their transition back into the family. Service organizations are especially well situated to help provide these young people with a sense of community support. By providing some well-organized activities or opportunities, you can help enhance their well-being and increase their skills and their resiliency factors.

In this webinar, you will:

*   Learn more about the assets and needs of children and youth of Servicemembers and veterans

*   Increase your awareness of the resources available to national service programs serving military-connected children and youth

*   Add to your toolbox of strategies for supporting and engaging these children and youth
