Dear CBCs,
During our Monthly Meetings, the challenge of engaging the military population in local efforts has proven a reoccurring theme. From conversations with Blueprint Communities, I have noted a few jumping-off points that should help open the door for communication with veterans, service members and their families in your area (listed below). If anyone else has any suggestions, please feel free to share your insight. Thank you!

If you are near a Navy Base, speaking with Fleet and Family Support Center and seeing about presenting as a speaker to the Ombudsman Assembly is a great way to reach active duty family members. Every branch has their own version of Ombudsmen but use different names. I believe Marines call their Key Spouse or Key Volunteers. For both Navy and Marines these are volunteer positions filled by command spouses appointed by the command. Air Force and Army have a paid position that is very similar, but I can’t recall what they have as a title. But is a great netword for reaching active duty and their families.
