From: June Ross <jro...@telus.net> Sent: January 12, 2016 5:29 AM To: Strong Communities/Coalitions Subject: Today, let’s celebrate! B.C. government rejects Kinder Morgan
I believe this title should have said - "BC GOVERNMENT REJECTS KINDERMORGAN.....FOR NOW!"
Today is truly a day to celebrate! The B.C. government has come out in opposition to the proposed Kinder Morgan pipeline and tankers project in its submission to the National Energy Board. Kinder Morgan utterly failed to meet the government’s five conditions
for pipeline approval.
The government’s rejection of Kinder Morgan puts it on the right side of history, as we see more and more evidence that the fossil fuel industry’s days are numbered. Saying “no” to Kinder Morgan also means the government is reflecting the will of the people
it represents—British Columbians from all walks of life who know this project is wrong for B.C. and wrong for our planet. The final decision will be in the hands of Prime Minister Trudeau and his cabinet—and we need to keep the pressure on to make sure they
do the right thing.
But today is a day to celebrate! This would not have happened without the commitment of people like yourself who have fought against the dangerous project.
Thank you for speaking out, thank you for standing up and thank you for not giving up hope.
Yours for a post-carbon future,
Tim Pearson
