Quincy Verdun: Reviving the Classical & Renaissance Figure

Artist Biography
After graduating from the Art Institute of Houston with a degree in commercial art, Quincy Verdun went to work in the field of fine art, producing mixed-media posters and open edition fine art prints. The South Louisiana artist has had his works shown at the Los Angeles and New York Expos, and well as being published and widely distributed by Verkerke in the Netherlands. Later, he began to focus his efforts on sculpture for which he always had a strong interest. He was especially drawn to the classical works of the old masters, though he is also much inspired by the Neo-Classical and the Gothic period.
A self-taught sculptor, he is strongly influenced by such artists as Michelangelo, da Vinci and Rodin. With an awe and admiration of the old masters, he began creating works in cast paper using a unique combination of drawings and sketches with a low relief. These works are reminiscent of sketches by Michelangelo and da Vinci. Some of Verdun's latest works have his hallmark of rich surface and texture, with classical and modern themes, in a contemporary setting.
Currently, Verdun has several open edition sculptures to offer, cast in durable hydrostone. Later, works cast in paper will be offered as well.
In addition to fine sculpture, Verdun also produces a substantial number of acrylic paintings as well. Be sure to check out his recent series of acrylic works in his gallery, "Montage of Color". His work can be described as "abstract surrealism". Much of Verdun's abstract art has been published as fine art posters and distributed around the world.
