I seem to have missed my invitation to join this email list at first,
probably due to the weight of other anti-cuts email flying around me.
I'm Graham Martin, based in York, a key organiser in York Stop the Cuts
and I have what now feels like a "long" history of working in gap
between Christian and 'secular' campaigns.
York Stop the Cuts were kind enough to send me to the Coalition of
Resistance conference on 27th November, and with a bit of prodding from
fellow delegates, I've nominated (or more like appointed) myself to the
National Council, which has its first meeting on 15th January. At the
conference, it was requested that people give details of other
affiliations, so I put down Common Wealth, mostly by way of flagging my
faith in a friendly way (I checked through all the sheets on the table
and couldn't find anyone else with a specifically Christian affiliation,
which disappointed me).
Anyhow, I realise this is backwards to how it would usually go, but I'm
prepared to put myself forwards for adoption as a representative of COR
on the Coalition's committee. Or alternatively to be asked to report
back from meetings. I feel that Coalition of Resistance is missing
something if there are no faith reps involved.
Yours,
Graham Martin
Thanks for the information and I look forward to hearing more.
I was a bit confused because I know of another COR (Conference of Religious) and thought, at first, that you were representing them.
