Nigeria Youth Climate Action Network (NigeriaYouthCAN) is an umbrella organization for individuals, groups and organizations working on Youth and Climate Change in Nigeria. The Network was formally launched during the Post COP15 Youth Conference on Climate Change held in Abuja on 16th February, 2010 with endorsement by the Federal Ministry of Environment, NigeriaCAN and other partners. The Network aims to build synergy and share experience among groups working on Youth and Climate Change in Nigeria. The Network has over 80 member organizations across Nigeria and works to promote Youth Mainstreaming into Climate Change and other programmes geared towards environmental sustainability.
As part of our activities to mainstream Nigerian Youth into Climate Talks, we organized a One Day Capacity Building Workshop on REDD+, Adaptation, Renewable Energy and Communicating Climate change for individuals and organizations working on Youth and Climate Change in Nigeria. The Workshop which held on September 15th 2010 in Abuja is supported by ICEED, WEP and NigeriaCAN and was endorsed by the Special Climate Change Unit of the Federal Ministry of Environment, Abuja. The workshop drew participants across the 6 geo-political zones of Nigeria while the Resources Persons were Climate Experts from United Kingdom, Kenya and Nigeria. We request your support in our upcoming events expecially the National Youth Conference on Climate Change on 13th October, 2010 in Abuja. The Draft Youth Position to COP16 will be endorsed at the Conference among other activities.
Details are in the attached Report. Please pay attention to the deadlines stated in te report and circulate to your networks for them to join the Working Groups to make inputs into the youth position.
