Job Opportunities in ACOMIN Zonal Offices

Civil Society Organizations in Malaria, Immunization and Nutrition
(ACOMIN)is the national coordinating network for civil society
organizations working on Malaria and has membership in all the 36
states of Nigeria and the FCT. Organizationally, it is structured
under seven zones.

The objectives of ACOMIN include:
- Capacity building for member organizations; community mobilisation
  and development
- Resource mobilization and sub-granting to member organizations
- Advocacy, monitoring and evaluation and project coordination

ACOMIN is a co-beneficiary of the Community Systems Strengthening
component of the Health Systems Strengthening Project, with
ActionAid Nigeria as Sub Recipient and NACA as Principal Recipient.

In order to implement the above and also attain the stated goals
and objectives of ACOMIN, the National Executive Council is looking
for a team of committed and competent staff to fill the relevant
positions mentioned below in the ACOMIN Zonal Offices across the
country.

1. Programmes Officer:
The Programmes Officer will participate with other staff members
in running and implementing programmes and projects of ACOMIN as an
independent non-governmental organization for the mobilization of a
concerted community response to Malaria, Immunization and Nutrition.

The Programmes Officers shall be responsible for all projects assigned
to him/her in the course of employment with ACOMIN and shall be:

- Willing to work within team settings
- Willing and able to learn
- Able to work under pressure and meet time schedules for reporting
- Committed to the principles of integrity and transparency

The ideal candidate will have a passion and commitment to civil
society and community interventions. He/she will have the following
attributes amongst others:

- Three years experience in working with Civil Society Organizations
  at national or zonal levels
- Practical experience in programming and project management
- Understanding of interventions in two of the following areas:
  malaria, immunization, nutrition and child survival
- Excellent communication skills in English (oral and written)
- Working knowledge of and commitment to gender equity, human rights
  and performance based programming
- Capacity for working alongside technical, professional and
  administrative staff in a participatory and inclusive way
- Ability to travel extensively within the Country

2. Monitoring and Evaluations Officer:

The ideal candidate for this position will have responsibility for
working within the M & E department of ACOMIN,thus participation
in the collection, collation and dispersal of data on Malaria,
immunization and child survival related issues is essential.

The M & E Officer will participate in the processes of designing
the M & E components of all ACOMIN Projects and ensure the collation,
retrieval and analysis of data collected.

The candidate will possess the following attributes:
- Possess a minimum of bachelors degree in the social sciences,
  public health,law or arts
- Must have at least three years cognate experience of monitoring
  and evaluation at Officer cadres in national or zonal civil society
  organizations
- Must have valid experience of development work at community levels
- Must have high levels of skill in team work, group facilitation
  skills and capacity to work with M & E officers of member organizations
- Must possess good oral and communication skills, and be proficient in
  the usage of relevant information technology packages

Qualifications and competencies for the above positions:
- Minimum of Bachelors Degree in the Social Sciences, law, medicine
  or humanities. Possession of a post graduate degree in the social
  sciences or public health will be an added advantage
- Three years of relevant experience in Civil Society and community
  interventions
- Computer literacy, with proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word,
  Excel and PowerPoint applications
- High level of skills in team work
- Ability to work with minimum supervision, and be self motivated
- Ability to relate to other health issues particularly HIV/AIDS and
  Tuberculosis
