Galatians 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond
nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in
Christ Jesus.

For some time I have had a degree of disquiet concerning the views of
women in the church. It seems that the following verses have produced
two extremes in their misunderstanding:

-1Corinthians 14:34 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for
it is not permitted unto them to speak; but [they are commanded] to be
under obedience, as also saith the law.

-1Timothy 2:11 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.

-1Timothy 2:12 But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp
authority over the man, but to be in silence.

One group interprets this in a literal sense with no regard for
context and use it as a means of subjugation based on gender. The
other group tries to dismiss it entirely and say it doesn't say what
it says thereby missing a point that may need to be made by
scripture.

Both suffer the unintended consequences of their scriptural paradigm
and are diminished because of it.

I have some definite thoughts concerning this, but would like to hear
what you think.

I would have to give this more thought. If I commented on this at this
point, I believe I would be doing so through the filter of what I have
been traditionally taught. I would like the filter to be an in-depth
scriptural study on my part.

My first aim would be to study and research Galatians 3:26. In what
context is Paul speaking - Service or Salvation? Roles or
Responsibilities? etc.
