I am also getting this message since this Monday on Sonal's branch into which I merged main. Easy to reproduce, see attached screenshot.

I assumed my IPs had gotten banned, as I am currently developing another wiki-related app that performs SPARQL requests (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=io.github.nicolasraoul.rosette) and had forgotten to set the user agent (now fixed). But the error subsists in Commons while it does not happen anymore at all in my other app.

Maybe the SPARQL server is experiencing some kind of outage?

query.wikidata.org is usable though.
