Hi all,

We are thrilled to announce that the explore functionality is back now! Apart from this, we are launching a few new features too!

What's new? 🚀
 -  A new refresh button lets you quickly reload the Nearby map
- Bookmarks now support categories
- Improved feedback and consistency in the user interface
- Bug fixes and performance improvements

Please feel free to test the latest changes and report any issues you face with v5.2.0 at https://github.com/commons-app/apps-android-commons/issues.

Thank you

Best,
Ritika

Hi Ritika!

It's exciting to hear about this particularly given that we are now able
to retain the 3+ age rating as a bonus ;-)

Kindly make sure to announce this in the wider commons-l and mobile-l
mailing list when this hits production.

BTW, just to know. Are we not tagging the releases in GitHub so that
they are also available on F-droid? Are you waiting for alpha / beta
feedback to do this? If so, I think it might be worth having
corresponding tags like v2.5.0-beta and mark it as pre-release.
I suggest this so that we have a convenient track of which code we
push out during alpha / beta releases :-)

Cheers,
Sivaraam

Hi Sivaraam,

Thank you for helping with the details!

We had removed peer review/explore, so I didn't want those to get released on F-Droid too. I was waiting to get through the Google Play reviews first. Now that we have our alpha release with all the desired functionalities, I'll create a release on GitHub.

I understand it. Actually, F-droid also allows pre-release builds. We could use the same if needed. Some reference on how to achieve pre-release builds:

<https://forum.f-droid.org/t/how-to-mark-releases-as-pre-releases/1246/9>

<https://gitlab.com/fdroid/fdroiddata/-/commit/0c1d494b55c2955759ff7c715fa459a1b6ea13d6>

If you need additional help with the F-droid stuff, there are a few volunteers who usually are glad to help us with it. For instance, see
