Outreach and Engagement - Plan of Attack level 2

Hi Folks,

There is no formal coordination meeting this week, however there are several times when we will be meeting to take care of postering, training for classroom speaking, and tabling.

1) Classroom Speaking:  On Wednesday, October 3rd at 4:30pm in SUB b028, we will have a time to practice classroom speaking. If you are feeling you could use some practice, please come. If you feel comfortable already, please email me the classes you will be speaking to. (There are 30 people on this listserv. If each person has an average of three classes, and there is on average 60 people per class, we can reach 4500 students! And these are conservative estimates).

General outline for classroom speaking:

a) Start by writing 'regist...@uvic.commonenergy.org ' and 'www.uvic.commonenergy.org' on the blackboard.
b) Introduce yourself;
c) Explain what Common Energy is, and our goal to move the university beyond climate-neutral.
d) Explain the conference, the goal of the conference, and how one can be involved. (If you need a refresher on what to say, the conference invite is a great tool, however if you have further questions, please do not hesitate to contact me).

2) Postering: We will be doing a campus poster blitz on Tuesday, October 2nd at 2pm. We will be meeting at the Munchie Bar. Please join us, and if you have a stapler or tacks, please bring them.

3) Tabling at the Fountain: We are creating a schedule to have a general information table at the fountain for next week. If you are interested, please let me know.

Please let me know what you can and cannot volunteer for by Tuesday, Oct 2 at 12:00pm.

Hi Mark,

I will email my ES 240 professor and see if Jill would like to speak to the class with me this Friday. I also think I could email my Cell Biology, STATS, and English professors and speak to them as well.
I will be there for the lesson on Wednesday, as you know what happens when I'm told to speak without scripted guidence (ie. "So, here's our website - good luck navigating it")
