Hi Common Cycle Volunteers,
My name is Jayanthi and I'm a teacher at the Early College Alliance (we're a Washtenaw County-wide high school housed on Eastern Michigan University's campus). In the spring (May 11th - June 16th), our teachers teach short elective courses, and I am teaching a bike repair course. I'm on the lookout for help with two things:
1. Bike Stands - While the class will be small, I'm looking for about 3 stands that I can borrow for the duration of the class so that each group of students will be able to work on their bike during work time without having to flip the bike over and fumble around with it on the ground. If anyone has a home stand that they are willing to lend out for May-June, I would be so appreciative! This is a busy time for our local co-ops, so I'm soliciting help from community members on this one.
2. Volunteers - If you have any interest in working with teens around building repair skills, I would love 2-3 volunteers to help out. The class will be on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10:25-11:50. Extensive repair skills are not necessary--what is really needed is someone who can make sure the group of students they are working with doesn't go rogue and provide a little guidance :) If you are interested but can't make every session, still feel free to let me know. I will need to run background checks on any interested volunteers, just FYI.
If you have any interest or questions, please let me know!
Thank you,
Jayanthi
