Friends,

This is why there is no sustainability in our food system without food and social justice movements that ensure food equity for all, particularly our most vulnerable. These cuts affect the lives of real people. In the vein of my dear friend and comrade, Paulina Helm-Hernandez from Southerners on New Ground's inspiring discussion on immigration reform, we are done "bleeding out" to prove our humanity. The resilience that folks exhibit daily in the face of extreme disenfranchisement creates an opportunity for us in food systems work to be allies who demonstrate that equity, resistance and human dignity should be the rule, not the exception. We don't have to allow our children to starve and die to show that they are not invisible. They are human beings just like all of us. As one of those children who's families depended on food stamps, and to the millions of families as of today, that will go hungry due to the $40 million in SNAP cuts...we see you. You are NOT invisible and your health and humanity matter.

This graphic from our friends at The Center for Social Inclusion says it all. Please share and stay informed.
