The Ammonia Price Trend changed significantly during Q2 2026, with prices rising across most major markets as supply became tighter, natural gas costs increased, and international shipping faced serious disruption. From April through May, the global ammonia market saw a broad rise in prices, with quarterly increases ranging from around 26% to 48% across the regions covered.

The Middle East experienced some of the strongest increases, while Asian markets also recorded sharp gains because of strong import demand. By June, however, the market started to move in different directions. Some regions saw prices correct, while others remained stable or recorded small increases.

Ammonia is closely connected to the fertilizer industry, agriculture, natural gas markets, and global shipping. This means its price can change quickly when there is a major disruption in any part of the supply chain. Q2 2026 is a good example of how several factors can come together and affect the market within just a few months.

What Happened to Ammonia Prices in Q2 2026?

During the second quarter of 2026, Ammonia Prices moved strongly upward in many markets. The biggest increases were seen in the Middle East and Asia Pacific.

Saudi Arabia recorded a quarterly increase of about 46%, while Qatar saw an increase of around 41%. India recorded a 45% increase and South Korea increased by approximately 44%. Trinidad and Tobago also recorded a firm increase of 26%.

North America and Europe experienced more moderate increases. Prices in the United States rose by around 28%, while the Netherlands recorded an increase of approximately 27%.

These numbers show that the increase was not limited to one country. It was a wider market movement caused by supply concerns, higher feedstock costs, shipping problems, and steady demand.

The Ammonia Price Chart during April and May would therefore show a clear upward movement across most of these markets. However, the picture changed in June as some supply and logistics pressures started to ease.

Why Did Ammonia Prices Rise?

One of the biggest reasons behind the Q2 price increase was the rise in natural gas costs.

Natural gas is an important feedstock for ammonia production. When natural gas becomes more expensive, producing ammonia generally becomes more costly as well. Higher production costs can eventually be reflected in export and import prices.

During April and May, geopolitical tensions and disruption around the Strait of Hormuz created additional pressure on natural gas availability and ammonia shipping routes. The situation affected movement through an important international trade route and made the supply chain more difficult to manage.

Shipping was another major factor.

When vessels have difficulty moving through important routes, freight costs can rise. Vessel availability can also become tighter. For ammonia buyers, this can increase the delivered cost even when the product price itself has not changed dramatically.

This is particularly important for countries that depend on imported ammonia. The final price paid by an importer can be influenced not only by the export price but also by freight, logistics, availability, and other transportation costs.

Middle East Ammonia Market Saw Strong Increases

The Middle East experienced some of the strongest price movements during Q2 2026.

In Saudi Arabia, the quarterly Ammonia Price Trend increased by approximately 46%. Export prices were affected by higher natural gas costs, restrictions on shipping movements, and tighter availability during April and May.

Qatar recorded a quarterly increase of about 41% for similar reasons. The disruption to shipping routes and feedstock flows created additional pressure on export availability.

The important point is that these price increases were not simply the result of stronger demand. Supply-side problems played a major role. When supply becomes less predictable while buyers continue to need the product, prices can move higher quite quickly.

Trinidad and Tobago Remained Firm

Trinidad and Tobago recorded a quarterly ammonia price increase of approximately 26% in Q2 2026.

The market was supported by higher natural gas costs and limited availability of Caribbean-origin cargoes. Changes in global shipping conditions also affected the market.

Freight costs and vessel availability became important considerations during the quarter. Even as international markets adjusted to changing conditions, limited supply from the region helped keep export offers firm.

Interestingly, June showed a slightly different direction. Ammonia prices in Trinidad and Tobago increased by around 2% from May. This indicates that Atlantic Basin tightness continued to provide some support even as pressure began to ease in other regions.

India and South Korea Saw Strong Import Price Growth

Asian import markets experienced some of the strongest quarterly increases.

In India, ammonia prices at Paradip increased by approximately 45% during Q2 2026. Import prices followed the movement of Saudi Arabian export prices, while higher shipping and logistics costs added to landed costs.

Agricultural demand was another important factor. Demand remained firm ahead of the Kharif sowing season, providing additional support to import prices.

South Korea recorded an approximately 44% quarterly increase. Prices at Ulsan followed the Saudi Arabian export market, where higher feedstock costs and shipping disruptions pushed export offers higher during April and May.

These markets demonstrate how events in one producing region can affect prices thousands of kilometers away. A disruption in the Gulf can eventually be reflected in the price paid by buyers in Asia.

What Happened in June 2026?

June was an important turning point in the Q2 market.

After the mid-June ceasefire and the reopening of the Strait of Hormuz, shipping conditions and feedstock flows started to normalize. This reduced some of the pressure that had pushed prices higher during April and May.

Saudi Arabia recorded a 1% month-on-month decline in June. Qatar also recorded a 1% decline.

South Korea saw a larger monthly decline of approximately 3%, while India also recorded a 3% decrease.

The changes suggest that part of the earlier price pressure was connected to temporary supply and logistics problems. As those conditions improved, some markets began to correct.

At the same time, not every market moved lower.

Trinidad and Tobago recorded a 2% monthly increase in June, showing that Atlantic Basin supply remained relatively tight. The United States and Netherlands remained unchanged from the previous month, supported by stable export prices from Trinidad and Tobago.

Ammonia Price Index Shows a Divided Market

The Q2 2026 Ammonia Price Index reflects a market that moved from a broad rally toward a more divided situation.

April and May were characterized by widespread price increases. By June, the Middle East and Asia Pacific started showing corrections, while North America and Europe remained broadly flat. South America, represented here by Trinidad and Tobago, moved slightly higher.

This difference between regions is important for anyone following ammonia prices.

A single global number does not always explain what is happening in individual markets. Local supply availability, import requirements, freight costs, agricultural demand, and proximity to producing regions can all create different price movements.

Ammonia Price Forecast: What Can We Learn From Q2?

Any Ammonia Price Forecast based on Q2 2026 should be viewed carefully because ammonia prices can react quickly to changes in energy costs, supply availability, geopolitical conditions, and shipping.

The June movement provides an important signal: when shipping routes reopen and natural gas costs begin to ease, some of the pressure created during a supply disruption can disappear.

At the same time, continued tightness in a particular region can keep prices firm even when other markets are declining.

Therefore, the direction of ammonia prices will continue to depend on several basic factors:

  • Natural gas prices and production costs

  • Availability of ammonia from major exporting regions

  • International shipping and freight conditions

  • Agricultural and fertilizer demand

  • Import requirements in major consuming countries

  • Geopolitical developments affecting trade routes

  • Vessel availability and transportation costs

Rather than looking at one factor alone, buyers and market participants need to watch how these factors interact.

Ammonia Prices by Major Market in Q2 2026

The Q2 2026 price movement can be summarized simply:

  • Trinidad and Tobago: Quarterly increase of approximately 26%; June increased about 2% month on month.

  • Saudi Arabia: Quarterly increase of approximately 46%; June decreased about 1%.

  • Qatar: Quarterly increase of approximately 41%; June decreased about 1%.

  • United States: Quarterly increase of approximately 28%; June remained unchanged.

  • Netherlands: Quarterly increase of approximately 27%; June remained unchanged.

  • South Korea: Quarterly increase of approximately 44%; June decreased about 3%.

  • India: Quarterly increase of approximately 45%; June decreased about 3%.

This comparison makes one thing clear: Q2 was a strong quarter for ammonia prices overall, but the market was already beginning to behave differently by June.

Understanding the Ammonia Price Chart

An Ammonia Price Chart for Q2 2026 would broadly show three stages.

First, prices moved higher during April as supply and logistics concerns became more important.

Second, the upward movement continued through May as feedstock costs and shipping difficulties remained elevated.

Third, June brought corrections in several regions after shipping conditions and feedstock flows started to normalize.

Looking at the chart this way is useful because it shows that the quarterly increase does not tell the whole story. A market can finish a quarter significantly higher while already showing signs of price correction toward the end of the period.
