The Butyl Glycol Price Trend moved strongly upward during Q2 2026, with prices increasing across major global markets. The quarter was shaped by higher crude oil volatility, rising Ethylene Oxide costs, more expensive freight, increased marine insurance premiums, and growing concerns around petrochemical shipments through the Middle East.

At the same time, demand from paints, coatings, industrial cleaners, printing inks, solvents, and construction chemicals remained steady, giving the market additional support.

Butyl Glycol is widely used across several industrial applications, so changes in raw material costs and transportation expenses can quickly influence market prices. During Q2 2026, these factors came together at the same time, creating a noticeable increase in Butyl Glycol Prices in both export and import markets.

Butyl Glycol Market Overview in Q2 2026

The second quarter of 2026 was a period of significant cost pressure for the Butyl Glycol market. The Iran–Israel conflict created uncertainty across petrochemical supply chains and affected the movement of chemical cargoes through the region. Concerns related to the Strait of Hormuz were particularly important because the area plays a major role in energy and chemical transportation.

Higher shipping risks meant that freight charges and marine insurance costs increased. These additional expenses eventually became part of the delivered cost of Butyl Glycol in several importing countries.

Production costs also moved higher. Ethylene Oxide, an important feedstock for Butyl Glycol production, became more expensive. Higher energy and operating costs added further pressure on producers and exporters.

Because of these developments, buyers in many regions had to deal with higher replacement costs. Some buyers increased procurement to protect against additional increases, while others became more cautious because of the higher overall cost.

Butyl Glycol Price Trend in Saudi Arabia

Saudi Arabia recorded a significant increase in Butyl Glycol prices during Q2 2026. Export prices increased by 78% compared with the previous quarter.

The increase was mainly connected to higher crude oil volatility, elevated freight costs, higher insurance charges, and concerns about shipments passing through the Strait of Hormuz. Ethylene Oxide costs and regional production expenses also remained high.

Another important factor was cautious production. When producers operate carefully and export availability becomes limited, buyers can face higher replacement costs. This helped strengthen the Butyl Glycol Price Trend in the Saudi Arabian market.

Demand from paints, coatings, industrial cleaners, and solvent applications remained relatively firm. In June, Saudi Arabian Butyl Glycol prices increased by another 4% from May, showing that cost and logistics pressures were still present toward the end of the quarter.

Butyl Glycol Price Trend in France

France experienced one of the strongest increases during Q2 2026. Butyl Glycol prices increased by 147% compared with the previous quarter.

The European market faced a sharp adjustment in glycol ether offers during the quarter. Supply conditions became tighter as producers maintained cautious operating rates because of high energy and operating costs.

The wider geopolitical situation added another layer of pressure. Disruptions and uncertainty around Middle Eastern shipping routes pushed freight and insurance costs higher. Concerns about petrochemical feedstock availability also contributed to a stronger replacement-cost environment.

Demand from paints, coatings, cleaners, and industrial solvent applications provided additional support. However, the market became more balanced toward the end of the quarter. In June, French Butyl Glycol prices remained unchanged from May as demand and production conditions became more stable and Ethylene Oxide costs started to ease.

Butyl Glycol Price Trend in Italy

Italy also recorded a major quarterly increase. The Butyl Glycol Price Trend increased by 142% compared with Q1 2026.

Higher crude oil costs, freight expenses, insurance premiums, and petrochemical production costs were key reasons behind the increase. European supply was also affected by constrained Ethylene Oxide availability and cautious production rates.

Higher energy expenses added to the cost of manufacturing and moving the product. Earlier changes in regional production capacity also contributed to tighter supply conditions.

Demand from paints, coatings, cleaning chemicals, and industrial solvent applications remained supportive. Buyers continued to require Butyl Glycol for regular industrial operations, helping prevent a major decline in market activity.

In June, Italian Butyl Glycol prices were unchanged from May. Stable downstream purchasing, balanced inventories, and steady plant operations helped keep prices relatively stable despite continuing geopolitical uncertainty.

Butyl Glycol Prices in Brazil

Brazil recorded a 78% increase in Butyl Glycol prices during Q2 2026 compared with the previous quarter.

Brazil depends significantly on imported material, making international shipping conditions particularly important. Disruptions affecting supplies from Saudi Arabia increased freight, insurance, and handling costs and pushed CIF offers higher.

The situation around the Strait of Hormuz also created longer delivery schedules and greater uncertainty for chemical shipments. Higher Ethylene Oxide costs and production expenses added further pressure to export offers.

Brazilian demand remained stable across paints, coatings, industrial cleaning, and chemical manufacturing applications. This steady demand helped maintain buying activity even as prices increased.

In June, Brazilian Butyl Glycol prices rose by 3% from May, showing that logistics and replacement-cost pressures continued into the final month of Q2.

Butyl Glycol Price Trend in China

China also saw a 78% increase in Butyl Glycol prices compared with the previous quarter.

Higher import costs were a major factor. Supplies arriving from Saudi Arabia faced increased freight, insurance, and handling expenses due to shipping disruptions and greater uncertainty around Middle Eastern trade routes.

Longer delivery times also encouraged buyers to pay closer attention to availability. Higher Ethylene Oxide and energy costs increased production expenses, while demand from paints, coatings, cleaning chemicals, and solvent industries continued to support the market.

However, the situation changed somewhat in June. Butyl Glycol prices in China declined by 2% from May as import availability improved and some downstream buyers reduced their procurement. Partial easing of maritime restrictions also helped reduce immediate freight pressure.

This shows that the Butyl Glycol Price Chart did not move in exactly the same direction every month. Although the overall quarterly trend was strongly upward, short-term changes depended on supply availability, freight conditions, and buying behavior.

Butyl Glycol Prices in Turkey

Turkey recorded a 79% increase in Butyl Glycol prices during Q2 2026 compared with Q1.

The market was affected by higher freight, marine insurance, and handling costs for imported material. Shipping concerns connected with the Strait of Hormuz created additional uncertainty for cargoes coming from Saudi Arabia.

Higher Ethylene Oxide and energy costs also increased export offers. At the same time, cautious operating rates and limited cargo availability contributed to longer delivery schedules.

Demand from Turkey's paints, coatings, industrial cleaners, printing inks, and construction chemicals sectors remained steady. This helped support procurement despite the increase in prices.

In June, Turkish Butyl Glycol prices increased by 3% from May, supported by firm replacement costs, ongoing logistics expenses, and stable downstream demand.

Butyl Glycol Price Trend in India

India experienced an 82% increase in Butyl Glycol prices during Q2 2026 compared with the previous quarter, making it one of the stronger increases among the markets covered in this review.

The Indian market was affected by higher freight, marine insurance, and handling costs for imports from Saudi Arabia. Shipping concerns around the Strait of Hormuz added uncertainty to delivery schedules and increased the overall landed cost.

Higher Ethylene Oxide, energy, and production costs also pushed export offers higher. At the same time, cautious plant operating rates and restricted cargo availability created additional pressure on supply.

Indian demand remained steady in paints, coatings, industrial cleaners, printing inks, and construction chemicals. Regular downstream requirements helped maintain import purchasing during the quarter.

In June, Butyl Glycol prices in India increased by 2% from May. Although shipment availability showed some improvement, logistics expenses and firm replacement costs continued to support prices.

Butyl Glycol Price Chart: What Q2 2026 Shows

The Butyl Glycol Price Chart for Q2 2026 would show a clear upward movement across all of the major markets covered.

The quarterly changes were approximately:

  • Saudi Arabia: +78%

  • France: +147%

  • Italy: +142%

  • Brazil: +78%

  • China: +78%

  • Turkey: +79%

  • India: +82%

France and Italy recorded the largest quarterly increases, while the other markets also experienced substantial gains.

However, the monthly movement in June was more mixed. Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Turkey, and India recorded additional increases, while China experienced a small decline and France and Italy remained stable.

This difference between quarterly and monthly movement is important. A market can experience a large increase over three months while becoming more stable during the final month of the period.

Butyl Glycol Price Index and Market Direction

The Butyl Glycol Price Index remained supported throughout Q2 2026 because several cost factors were working in the same direction.

Crude oil volatility increased the cost uncertainty surrounding petrochemical production. Ethylene Oxide prices remained an important cost factor, while energy and operating expenses also stayed elevated.

Transportation became another major issue. Higher freight rates, marine insurance premiums, and handling costs increased the delivered price for import-dependent markets.

At the same time, demand did not weaken enough to offset these cost pressures. Paints, coatings, cleaners, solvents, printing inks, and construction-related applications continued to provide a stable base of consumption.

Butyl Glycol Price Forecast: What to Watch Next

Looking ahead, the Butyl Glycol price forecast will largely depend on whether the supply and logistics problems seen during Q2 continue.

If shipping conditions improve and freight and insurance costs return closer to normal levels, some pressure on imported Butyl Glycol prices could ease. Better availability could also encourage buyers to reduce precautionary purchasing.

On the other hand, continued geopolitical uncertainty, high energy costs, restricted production, or renewed transportation problems could keep Butyl Glycol Prices elevated.

Another important factor will be downstream demand. If paints, coatings, cleaning products, printing inks, and construction chemicals continue to purchase steadily, the market could retain a firm price base.

Buyers will therefore need to watch three areas closely: feedstock costs, supply availability, and transportation conditions.
