Your calls can make a difference! Please call Governor Pat Quinn, 312-814-2121, and ask him to grant Howard Morgan clemency - a pardon with expungement - before he leaves office January 12.  Granting justice in this case will be a fitting way for Gov. Quinn to close his term of office, in keeping with his theme of “Everyone in – No one out.”

Howard Morgan was an African American law enforcement officer when he was shot 28 times by police a block from his Lawndale home, and then charged with attempted murder of the police who tried to kill him.  A jury acquitted him of ever having fired a weapon in 2007, but he was retried on the attempted murder charges 5 years later, in violation of the double jeopardy clause of the U. S. Constitution.  The jury that convicted him was not allowed by the court to hear important facts, and he was sentenced to 40 years in prison.  He’s permanently disabled by the shooting and is 63 years old.

Your calls are very important in raising awareness about the case with Governor Quinn.  He needs to know that the people are urging him to act.

Thank you very much.
